The pocket tester we pull out whenever water quality is the question.

Water pH is one of those readings homeowners rarely think about until it costs them. Acidic water quietly corrodes plumbing and can leach copper and lead from older pipes; alkaline water scales up fixtures and water heaters. You can't see it, taste it, or smell it — but a five-second dip with the right tester tells you exactly where you stand. The Hanna HI98107 pHep is the pocket pH tester we keep on hand for drinking water, well water, aquariums, pools, and ponds.

Why we carry this product

We only sell what we'd use ourselves, and Hanna is a name we already trust in the field. pH is the first thing we check on a water sample because it tells you whether your water is working against your plumbing — and your health. The HI98107 earns its spot for three reasons: two-point automatic calibration keeps it honest over time, automatic temperature compensation means accurate readings whether the water's cold from the tap or warm from a tank, and the waterproof body survives the kind of real-world use that kills lesser meters. It's not a lab instrument, and we won't pretend it is — but for fast, dependable pH checks around the home, it's the one we reach for.

pH and temperature, read together.

A large multi-level LCD shows your pH reading and water temperature at the same time, across the full 0.0–14.0 pH range at 0.1 resolution. A stability indicator tells you the moment a reading settles, so you're never guessing whether the number you're looking at is the real one. Temperature displays in °F or °C, your choice.

Calibrates itself in two points

Press one button to enter calibration and the tester recognizes Hanna's standard buffers (pH 4.01, 7.01, and 10.01) automatically, locking in the value once the reading is stable. Two-point calibration is what keeps a pH tester accurate as the electrode ages — and on the HI98107 it takes seconds, not a procedure. Just two buttons run the whole device: one for power, one for calibration.

Waterproof and built for real use

The whole unit is waterproof, and at just 17 mm (0.7 in) thick it slips into a pocket or tool bag. The electrode uses a cloth junction rather than a standard ceramic one — a larger contact surface that delivers faster, more stable readings in the field. A single CR2032 battery runs roughly 1,000 hours, with a low-battery alert and a battery-percentage check at startup so you're never caught empty.
