How to use it?

Simple as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Collect. Put on the included gloves and mask. Lightly mist the material with soapy water so fibers don't go airborne, then cut or break off a small piece (about 1" x 1") and seal it in the sample bag.
  2. Mail. Fill out the submission form, register your kit, and drop everything in the prepaid mailer.
  3. Results. Your certified lab report arrives by email in about 2–3 business days. Check your spam folder — lab emails land there sometimes.

What does the lab actually test for?

The sample is analyzed by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), the standard method for identifying asbestos fibers in bulk building materials. You get a detailed professional report telling you whether asbestos is present, and SEEML offers a free expert consultation if you have questions about your results.

What should I test?

Common suspects in homes built before the mid-1980s: popcorn or textured ceilings, 9"x9" floor tiles and their adhesive, pipe and duct insulation, cement siding, and old joint compound. One kit covers one sample — testing multiple materials means multiple kits, since each material needs its own analysis.
